Rule 88
Filling and Promotion of Typist Posts

(1) Notwithstanding anything written elsewhere in this paragraph, the filling of vacant typist positions in the civil service and the promotion of civil servants working in typist positions shall be done in accordance with the "Typist Classification Scheme" and the procedure prescribed by the Government of Nepal from time to time by publishing notices in the Nepal Gazette.
(2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-rule (1), a typist civil servant on the non-technical side of the service concerned ……. They will be eligible to be potential candidates for promotion.
(3) To be a potential candidate according to sub-rule (2), the civil servant concerned must have received at least one month of training related to the service conducted by the Government of Nepal or an agency designated by the Government of Nepal and must have obtained the minimum educational qualification required for the post to be promoted.
(4) If the post of typist becomes vacant due to promotion in accordance with this rule or for any other reason, if the concerned office sends a written notice within one month to retain the post or change it to the post of computer operator, the Ministry of General Administration will decide within fifteen days to retain the post or convert it to the post of computer operator. .
(5) If action is not taken to maintain the position or to change the position within the time period as per sub-rule (4), such position will be cancelled.
(6) Provisions related to promotion in sub-rules (1), (2) and (3) shall also apply to civil servants working in the post of Computer Operator and Assistant Computer Operator in the Nepal Miscellaneous Service.
